Jennifer Graham – Albany County, WY Coroner
When did you know you wanted to become a coroner?
I attempted to intern with the Albany County Coroner in 2003. When I met with Julie Heggie she ended up offering me a job. After watching her assist the families through these difficult times, I knew that this was something that I wanted to do.
Do you have a personal tie to organ and/or tissue donation?
I am a donor recipient. I received donor tissue in 2001 when I had spinal cord surgery due to an injury.
Why is donation and transplantation is so important to you?
I have personally seen the effects of transplantation and how they improve the lives of the recipients. I have also seen it help families heal from tragedy when they are able to continue their loved ones legacy and help others.
What is the one thing you would want others to know about your work?
That this job is emotionally, as well as physically, difficult but being able to help family and friends deal with their tragedy is so worth while.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my family. My husband and children are the most amazing adaptable people. They are willing to give up and postpone family dinners and holidays so that I can help the citizens of Albany County.
What do you like to do in your free time (hobbies)?
When I have free time I like to spend it with my family traveling to new places and experiencing new things.
