Advocate Spotlight: Lynn Konken
Donor Alliance volunteers and advocates are the heart and soul of our efforts to inspire and inform our community about the importance of signing up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor in Colorado and Wyoming. Each of our volunteers and advocates has their own unique and inspiring story to tell. In this advocate spotlight, meet Lynn Konken, a bone recipient and donor family member from Westminster, CO.

What is your favorite memory volunteering for Donor Alliance? Every event I have done with Donor Alliance has given me a special memory. The one that still brings bittersweet tears is the balloon release at the 2006 Donor Dash. It was our first year volunteering at the event. My daughter was five years old and when she released her balloon she said with absolutely certainty that Great Grandma (GG) was going to catch her balloon and it would make GG happy. Three years prior, GG was able to be a donor after her death.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – A.A. Milne
What is your proudest accomplishment? My amazing daughter.
What is the last book you read or movie you saw? Would you recommend it? Hidden Figures. I would absolutely recommend this movie. Very inspirational, empowering, and educational.
If you could take an all-expenses paid vacation, where would you go? A month-long Photography Safari in Africa.
What are some of your favorite hobbies? Gardening, woodworking, reading, and sleeping.
What song would you sing at karaoke night? Hotel California by The Eagles.
