On Sunday, July 16th, 2023, in Denver’s Washington Park, thousands gathered to celebrate life at the 24th Annual Donor Dash 5k!
The Donor Dash is a 5K run/walk that honors the lives of organ, eye and tissue donors, celebrates the lives of organ, eye and tissue recipients, and recognizes those who continue to wait for a lifesaving transplant.
The event featured some old favorites like the Diaper Dash. In addition, it had touching ways to pay tribute to all of the heroic donors. We celebrated those who gave the gift of life through tributes like the Donate Life Memorial Garden and Wall of Honor.
New in 2023, Donor Alliance brought in additional ways to honor, celebrate, and recognize.
- The Dashboard – Participants were able to send in photos of their loved ones and moments from past Donor Dashes that were meaningful to them. These rotated on two large screens on either side of the stage throughout the morning.
- Ribbon Tribute – At the end of the program, participants gathered in exposition area to pay their respects to those touched by organ, eye, and tissue donation. Each participant held one of five different colored ribbons – each with one special connection to donation and transplantation. A colored wave of ribbons emerged throughout the crowd during a special a cappella performance.
5280 A Capella Group helped us close out the event with a beautiful rendition of “Higher Love”.
