Donor Family Quilt Project
Rocky Mountain Threads of Life
The Rocky Mountain Threads of Life quilts commemorate individuals who have given the gift of life. These quilts are made by families of organ and tissue donors to honor their loved ones and inspire the public. The fabric quilt squares are professionally sewn together by dedicated volunteers to form a beautiful, memorable tribute. The quilts are displayed at special community outreach events throughout Colorado and Wyoming to celebrate those who gave the gift of life and to share the stories of our donor heroes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! You do not need to be an experienced quilter to contribute to this project. You can use any fabric cut into an 8-inch square, even a favorite T-shirt or other piece of clothing. Or you can head to the craft store and choose a fabric that reminds you of your loved one. You can decorate with fabric markers, puffy paint, etc. (Paper squares, and squares made with tape and glue, are not durable and cannot be accepted.) There is no time limit! You may submit your quilt square whenever it is complete.
Yes! When we receive your quilt square and release form, you will be able to view it on our website. Once we receive enough squares for an entire quilt, we will have our volunteer quilters from Rocky Mountain Threads of Life sew the squares into a beautiful quilt.
Each completed quilt is made with 46 individual quilt squares. Once we have received enough quilt squares, our volunteer quilters will begin sewing the quilt together. It can take up to a year or longer for a quilt square to be sewn into a quilt.
If you provided your contact information when you submitted your quilt square, we will notify you once your square is sewn into a quilt. You may view all of our completed quilts at the bottom of this page.
