Lella’s Story – Lella is a transplant
recipient and a registered donor
When Lella was just 2 months old, she was diagnosed with a rare condition that affected her liver and was placed on the transplant waiting list. At 7 months old, she received her lifesaving and healing gift – a liver – from a heroic organ donor in Iowa. Now a teenager, Lella’s donor has given her a chance to find her passion for dance, go to her high school state swimming championships, and spend time with her friends and family.
Organ and tissue donation saved Lella’s life, all because someone like you checked the box and said YES to become a donor.
How Organ and
Tissue Donation Works
There are more than 1,300 people waiting for a life-saving organ transplant in the Colorado and Wyoming region served by Donor Alliance. When a registered donor passes away, Donor Alliance meets with the family and medical professionals to help honor the donor’s decision. A nationwide database quickly identifies the best match for an organ and a transplant recipient. Donor Alliance helps facilitate the recovery and transportation of the donor’s gifts to transplant centers in a safe and timely manner. Donor Alliance walks alongside families and honors their loved one’s lifesaving and healing gifts.
Donor Alliance is a nonprofit dedicated to saving and healing lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Donor Alliance also manages the donor registries in the region – Donate Life Colorado and Donate Life Wyoming.
