As our region transitions back to an open status after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, you will see some changes in your neighborhoods and communities. One of the places where you can expect to see changes is at your local DMV offices. We work closely with our region’s DMVs, so we wanted you to be prepared and able to get what you need when visiting the offices safely and comfortably.
Both Colorado and Wyoming allowed extensions that began in mid-March for those needing to renew their driver license or state identification. This allowed residents to comply with the “stay at home” and “safer at home” recommendations.
In the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Colorado Driver License offices closed for the safety of the public and staff. Wyoming Driver Services locations have remained open while taking precautions such as limiting the number of occupants in each building and social distancing in lobby areas.
Now that the majority of offices are open or have reopened, you will see some changes in all locations. Staff are wearing face masks and plexi-glass barriers have been installed to protect staff and customers. There are some additional protective measures that may vary from state to state.
Colorado Driver License Offices
In Colorado, the offices that are open are currently available by appointment only. Remember, the 60-day extension for renewal of expired identifications began on March 20, 2020.
Appointments can be made by calling 720-295-2965. Customers are required to wear face masks and will be checked for high temperatures upon arrival at their designated appointment time. You can also renew online or by mail.

Wyoming Driver Services Offices
Wyoming residents up for renewal have a 90-day grace period for driver licenses or identification cards that expire between March 15 and June 1, 2020.
While Driver Services offices remained open for business, residents can do their part to maximize the use of email, phone and online resources to conduct their business with Driver Services. Continued social distancing is being practiced to protect staff and customers.

What’s Not Different at the DMV?
Even though things might look different on your next visit to your local DMV, one thing that will not change is your ability to say Yes to saving lives through organ, eye and tissue donation.
