Bryson Quinney, a young heart recipient, and his father Eric Quinney championed a Donate Life specialty license plate in Wyoming with the help of state lawmakers to spark conversations among Wyomingites about the power of donation. In January, Donor Alliance was proud to announce the new specialty plate launched in Wyoming to inspire more residents to register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor.

Cheyenne Post – Wyoming and Colorado organ donations increase by more than ten percent

The number of lives in the Mountain West saved by organ donation continues to rise. According to the nonprofit Donor Alliance, there were 918 organ transplants in Wyoming and Colorado in 2023. That's a 10.6 percent increase over the year before. Those transplants came from 307 donors.

According to WYDOT, anyone interested in increasing awareness of organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation may apply for the new, distinctive “Donate Life” license plates. “When you say ‘yes’ to registering as an organ and tissue donor, it is an opportunity for another life to be saved and healed. You’re giving someone a second chance at life. Every year, organ and tissue transplants provide hope to tens of thousands of people suffering from disease, injury, or trauma,” Heather Burke, Donor Alliance Public Relations and Communications Manager told the Telegram.

"Organ donation saved Douglas resident Rhonda Hill’s life. She’s been an advocate for the Donor Alliance nonprofit since a kidney and pancreas donation in her thirties gave her a new lease on life. On New Year’s Day, Hill will represent the Donor Alliance and Wyoming in the Rose Parade hosted in Pasadena, California. Wyoming Public Radio’s Jeff Victor is no stranger to organ donation himself; he gave a kidney to his father five years ago."

Wyoming Father and Son Work Together to Spread Awareness About Organ Donation Through License Plates

"A father and son from Lyman have teamed up with Uinta County Senator Wendy Shuler to develop legislation to create a special license plate for the state of Wyoming to promote organ donation awareness.

Last week Eric and Bryson Quinney testified in the senate transportation committee when they were discussing legislation. The committee passed the license plate with a 4-1 vote, on the Senate floor it has passed the third reading, so now goes over to the house side.
