Triple Transplant Recipient Hopes to Inspire at 2018 Donor Dash – YourHub – Denver, CO

I am here today because my donor said yes. Just over ten years ago, I was in the hospital and only given a couple of weeks left to live. I have a rare protein folding disorder that is a form of familial Amyloidosis, which results in my body forming abnormally shaped proteins. The anti-rejection medications he took eventually destroyed his kidneys, and after a decade, he needed another transplant — this time a kidney. I was a perfect match.

Tanner Denton was on vacation with his family in Hawaii in 2016 when he went on an organ donation kick. There was not much of a sequitur to the conversation, according mother Allison McKissen.
