Advocate Spotlight: Jodi Lanzi
Donor Alliance Advocates for Life are the heart and soul of our efforts to inspire and educate our community about the importance of signing up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor in Colorado and Wyoming. Each of our Advocates have their own unique and inspiring story to tell. In this Advocate Spotlight, meet Jodi Lanzi, a passionate Heart Recipient from Loveland, CO. Jodi has been a dedicated Advocate for Life for 3 years!

What’s your favorite memory of volunteering at Donor Alliance? My favorite part about volunteering with Donor Alliance is helping people have a better understanding of organ, eye and tissue donation. I think it becomes more real and less of an abstract idea when they talk to me, someone who had a transplant.
What is your favorite season & why? I love the Fall. I love the smell of the air, it is so crisp, with the smell of wood burning in a neighbor’s fireplace. I love the fall colors- the reds, oranges and yellows. I love fall flowers, especially Mums of all colors.
What is your proudest accomplishment? My proudest accomplishment is raising my children to be responsible adults and great parents. I’m proud of the relationship I have with all six of my kids- 5 boys and one girl, their wives and husband and all 15 of my grandkids ad 2 great-grandkids. My other accomplishment is going back to school when I was 45. I drove from Grand Lake to Metropolitan State University twice a week for 2 years and I drove from Loveland for 3 years.
What is the last book you read? Would you recommend it? The last book I read was The Stranger in the Lifeboat. It’s a book written by Mitch Albom. If you’re familiar with his books you know they have a spiritual theme to them, the stranger in the boat, also has a spiritual theme. I enjoyed this one and would recommend it.
What song would you sing at karaoke night? I would never sing karaoke by myself, but if someone wanted to sing with me, I would choose Don’t Worry Be Happy. That isn’t the name of the actual song- it’s 3 Birds by Bob Marley.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Don’t give up hope, tomorrow will be a better day.
