Donor Alliance Staff Spotlight, April 2023: Travis Kinder
We’re so proud to work with each and every one of our staff members here at Donor Alliance. In our Staff Spotlight, we like to take a minute to share who we are and why we work at Donor Alliance. In this month’s staff spotlight, meet Travis Kinder. Travis is a Learning & Development Specialist at Donor Alliance and has been part of the team for over 2 years.
Meet Travis in our April 2023 Donor Alliance Staff Spotlight
Tell us a little about your role with Donor Alliance.
I provide learning and development support mostly to our non-clinical staff. This could include anything from training to course development and onboarding support. I’ve also assisted in Lean training initiatives, a continuing series of webinars, and am currently producing a podcast series with members of our Hospital Development team.
What do you enjoy most about/what’s the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Seeing our learning and development team grow and the quality of work the team produces. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by knowledgeable, passionate, and talented individuals.
Tell us about a time at work that really moved you. What’s the most meaningful interaction you’ve had at a Donor Alliance event? Most moving experience you’ve been a part of?
For the podcast, we recently had the mother of a donor on for an interview. She told her story, including how tragic it was losing a family member. She then shared how incredible it was to see how impactful her family’s choice to donate was. She took one the worst days of her life and has made it a message of positivity and meaning. She demonstrated strength and grace, and her willingness to share her experience so openly and honestly really stuck with me.
If you change anything about your life, what would you change?
It’s probably a predictable answer, but I’d like to take more time with my family to see more of the world.
When you’re not working, what do you like to do for fun?
Usually cooking, recording, running, or dabbling in photography. In addition to training for some summer races, I’m working on an album in my home studio and have been spending a lot of time working through French cookbooks – currently Bourdain’s Les Halles, while also working on my macaron technique.
